Challah Chick, led by Stephanie Whitehorn, brings a hands-on challah baking class straight to your home, synagogue, or community space anywhere in Palm Beach — from Palm Beach Gardens to West Palm Beach, Jupiter, Wellington, and Boca Raton. She brings the dough, the tools, and the know-how — you bring the group.
📍 Proudly serving all of Palm Beach County
Stephanie built her reputation baking soft, golden, hand-braided challah for the Hamptons through her original bakery, White Horn Bake House. Now based in Palm Beach Gardens, she's traded the retail counter for the kitchen table — teaching families, friend groups, and congregations throughout Palm Beach County how to mix, braid, and bake challah from scratch.
Every class is hands-in-the-dough: from braiding to making the dough from scratch, you'll walk away with a fresh-baked loaf, dough for next week, and a skill you'll use for every Shabbat and holiday to come.
No commercial kitchen required — Challah Chick brings everything needed to turn your kitchen counter into a hands-on braiding station.
Pick your space — your home, your synagogue, or your community center — and a date that works for your group.
Stephanie arrives with freshly prepared dough, ingredients, tools, and recipe cards — no shopping or prep for you.
Learn to braid with her ready-made dough, then learn to make the dough from scratch.
Your loaf bakes golden and goes home with you — along with dough to freeze for next week's challah.
1. A fully baked challah. Stephanie brings prepared dough so you can learn to braid; it's baked during class and you take the loaf home.
2. Dough for next week. You'll also learn to make the dough yourself, then take a portion home to freeze so you can bake your own challah the following week.
To bake it: move the frozen dough to the refrigerator 24 hours ahead, then let it sit out about an hour before braiding. See the FAQ for full steps.
A birthday, a girls' night, a family bonding afternoon — an intimate class around your own kitchen island.
A hands-on Shabbat education program or holiday event for religious school, sisterhood, or the whole congregation.
Country clubs, JCCs, corporate team-building — a memorable, edible activity for any group event.

None at all. Classes are designed for complete beginners through experienced home bakers, and every step is demonstrated hands-on.
All ingredients, tools, and recipe cards, plus prepared dough for braiding. Every guest takes home a fully baked challah and a portion of dough to freeze for next week — just thaw it in the refrigerator 24 hours before baking. You don't need to shop or prep anything in advance.
Keep it frozen as an unbraided ball, sealed in an oiled freezer bag with the air pressed out, and use it within about 3 months. The day before you want to bake, move it to the refrigerator for 24 hours. On baking day, let it sit out for about an hour, braid it just like in class, let it rise until puffy (often a little slower than fresh dough), brush with egg wash, and bake. Don't refreeze dough once it has thawed. Your recipe card has the oven temperature and time.
Yes, as add-on classes. Every standard class teaches the classic challah. A Specialty Flavor class features one flavor of your choice (cinnamon roll, pretzel, chocolate chip, or scallion pancake) and is +$5 per person. An Advanced Braiding Techniques class is also +$5 per person.
We recommend booking at least 2 weeks ahead, and earlier around the High Holidays and other busy Jewish calendar dates.
